MY FAVORITE CHILDRENS

BOOK WHEN I WAS YOUNG

When I was a little girl the book that I used to read that I recall being my favorite is Curious George. I’m sure most of you have heard of the Curious George books, but if you have not then let me share what it is about.  It is about a cute little monkey that takes a new journey in every book.  Sometimes he travels to a different place and other times he discovers new things, but every one of the books is very exciting, as it brings you on a new adventure every time. You never know what he is going to do next or where he will end up. 

 I used to get so excited when my mother read the book to me because every one of his books was so interesting.  I could not wait to see what he was going to do or where he was going.  With the turn of every page there was something exciting happening.  The book was a great learning opportunity for me. As Curious George discovered the world so did I.  These books take you on a trip to different places in the world, to different events, and sometimes just discovering a new object.  So it teaches you all about things and places that you probably never knew about as a child.  Therefore you feel like you are discovering the world along with the little monkey.

If I was asked to present this children’s book to a child living in another country, I would describe it as such:            “Would you like to go on an adventure with a cute little monkey named George to a place that you have never seen before?  You could spend the day with him exploring new places, people and things.  Every time you turn the page of this book you will be so surprised at what the monkey discovers.  He is very very curious and he likes to see really cool things everyday.  So if you are curious and want to see really cool things too, then you could go along with him if you read the book.  Who knows where you will go or what you will see! You can only find out if you read along!”

 I just have to say that this still is my favorite book because it reminds me of my life, my daughter and I have always loved to explore new places, people and things together.  I raised her by myself and we so many times have gone on adventures together and had no idea where we would end up. We would just say lets go on an adventure today and just start driving, especially if times were tough and we were feeling down.  We both find this extremely exciting and love to just take off and explore new things just as the monkey does.

 Last summer we went to Canada for the first time and we both loved it.  We explored something new everyday. Talked a different language that we both spoke pretty well by the time we left and met so many new people. We got a real good laugh out of riding the subway back and forth trying to figure out where we were and where we were going since it was all in French.  I am amazed at how well we did getting around and how much we saw in a short time.  It was a blast!  So my daughter is kind of like my Curious George and I am like hers, we go on adventures together and never know what will happen or where we will end up.  It keeps life exciting and fun.  I would recommend any parent to read the Curious George books to their children and discover A GREAT ADVENTURE!
