THE GROOM’S INVOLVEMENT

How involved is Fernando in the wedding decisions?  Well let me tell you that he is extremely involved in all of the decisions.  Does this sound weird or controlling?  Well let me tell you it is not.  He is extremely involved but in a good way.  Everyone always says that it is all about the bride, but we do not feel that way at all.  The wedding is about both of us and why shouldn’t he be involved, it’s his wedding too!  I don’t believe that the wedding is just about the bride and what the bride wants.  It is just as much Fernando’s day as it is mine and we are making all of our decisions together.  That is exactly what we are entering into, a relationship with decisions that we both will make so why not start with the wedding.  We both have waited a long time for this and it is our first wedding and we both are very excited. 

As far as giving him liberty to influence the wedding decisions, I believe he should be as involved as me and I like it that way.  We both are on the same page and we both luckily have the same kind of wedding in mind so it has worked out really well so far.  The style and the type of wedding that we both want has been a very easy decision for us because we both envisioned the same type of wedding.  We have both picked out the band/DJ, the cake, the flowers, the favors etc together and it has been a blast for us.  I do think though he has been to enough bridal expos, and been force feed enough cake samples for the rest of his life,  Ha Ha.  But seriously I feel so lucky to have so much support and interest from him, even all the little details, he has been involved in all of it and not just left it up to me.  I have enjoyed planning the wedding with Fernando so much and I am so happy to have him involved in all of it with me. It’s so much fun to have a groom who is as passionate about their wedding as the bride.  I look forward to his opinion and what makes him comfortable and happy as well as me. 

Ok so there was one decision that was difficult for both of us and I did accommodate his feelings in this area. It was the color of the wedding; I wanted pastel pink, no surprise right? and he did not want this color nor did he want his eight groomsmen wearing any pink that matched the girls.  I believe that if I really insisted on this color that he probably would have gone along with it but he would not have been very happy.  After all this is his day too, not just mine.  So after long discussions we decided to have burgundy for him and pastel pink for me. We compromised on two colors one for me and one for him and then we incorporated silver to tie them both together.  Now that we have put both colors together I love it and I am happy and so is he, we both got what we want.  He would however like to have a say on the wedding dress before the big day but that is one decision that he will not be able to influence, Sorry Honey I want it to be a big surprise!
